Cantina Communal – The Labour Files Screening

This Cantina Communal we’ll screen three episodes of The Labour Files, an investigative documentary series produced by Al Jazeera.

The series is based on what has been described as one of the largest leaks of internal documents in British political history, including emails, messages, and internal communications from within the UK Labour Party.

Across the episodes, the documentary examines internal conflicts, political strategies, media narratives, and the mechanisms through which power is exercised within a major political party.

Episode 1 (The Purge) focuses on internal efforts to undermine leadership and reshape party direction.
Episode 2 (The Crisis) explores how political narratives around antisemitism were constructed and used.
Episode 3 (The Hierarchy) looks at systemic issues of racism and internal culture within party structures.

The screening raises broader questions about political communication, institutional power, and how narratives are shaped both internally and in the public sphere.

As always, Cantina Communal means shared food, a screening, and open space for conversation afterwards. Given the length and intensity of the material, people are welcome to arrive and leave flexibly.
