Since the 2000s, the citizens' initiative Weinbergsweg has existed in Berlin Mitte - a prime example of urban politics from above. There, (mainly rich) residents and tradesmen meet with representatives of the police and the district administration to discuss "district violence and crime prevention", including the possible fencing off of public parking areas, the intensification of security and police operations, and the installation of water sprinklers against "unwelcome guests". Obviously, their aim is to turn Mitte once and for all into a dreary promenade for the "rich and beautiful. Anyone who doesn't fit in is harassed and driven out.

But we don't want to have our spaces taken away from us! Especially in Berlin Mitte we need space, green areas and places to meet - places for everyone, at any time! We want Solidarity Parks for all!

Come by on 25.09 and let's discuss together how we want to live, plan counter-designs and occupy the park.
