Spätestens seit den politischen Auseinandersetzungen um den
Weltfussballverband FIFA während der Weltmeisterschaft in Katar stehen
die großen Fussballverbände wegen ihrer harten Profitorientierung,
Korruption und dem Verzicht auf menschenrechtliche Standards und dem
Verbot offen gelebter Diversität hart in der Kritik. Entsprechende linke
Kampagnen wie "Boycott Qatar 2022" haben in den letzten Jahren kritisch
darauf aufmerksam gemacht.

Wir wollen nun anlässlich der am Freitag beginnenden Europameisterschaft
der Männer* die Rolle des europäischen Fussballverbands UEFA genauer
beleuchten: wie sind die europäischen Fussballstrukturen beschaffen und
wer profitiert von diesen? Was bedeutet die Europameisterschaft als
wirtschaftliches Ereignis? Welche wirtschaftlichen und politischen
Rahmenbedingungen setzt die UEFA? Inwiefern werden diese von staatlichen
Akteuren akzeptiert? Und was bedeuten diese Zustände für linke
Faninitiativen und deren Forderungen nach einer Entkommerzialisierung
und akzeptierten Politisierung des Sports?

Nach einer kurzen inhaltlichen Einführung schauen wir gemeinsam den
ZDF-Dokumentarfilm "UEFA - Fußball. Macht. Geld" (45 min) an, um dann
gemeinsam über den europäischen Fußballverband UEFA und das Gross-Event
EM zu diskutieren.

Info für alle Interessierten: Das "Pirata Patata" zeigt unter dem Motto
"Ohne Stolz am Ball. Nationen wegkicken" ausgewählte Spiele der EM. Aus
der Einladung: „Fußball verbindet Menschen aus unterschiedlichen
Kontexten und ist mehr als nur ein Spiel. In Zeiten zunehmender
nationalistischer und rassistischer Spaltung auf Grund des Rechtsrucks
wollen wir einen Ort schaffen, an dem sich alle wohlfühlen, gemeinsam
feiern und Fußball schauen können. Das Pirata zeigt die EM, aber wir
haben explizit keinen Bock auf Nationalflaggen, -trikots,
nationalistische Symboliken und darüber hinaus gehenden Nationalismus.
Unser Raum ist antirassistisch, antifaschistisch und inklusiv.

Wir sind hart genervt von dem immer wieder zu Fussball-Turnieren
hervorgeholten „Partypatriotismus“, denn „Nationalgefühl“ beruht immer
auf Ab- und Ausgrenzung – versehen mit staatlicher Macht entstehen so
unmenschliche Institutionen wie das europäische Grenzregime. Wir sehen
keinen Grund dieses zu feiern oder dem Raum zu geben. Darum: lasst Eure
Nationalflaggen und Trikots zu Hause – dann seid Ihr zur EM herzlich im
Pirata willkommen!"

"Football as a cash cow? The role of the European Football Association

At the latest since the political disputes surrounding the world
football association FIFA during the World Cup in Qatar, the major
football associations have been heavily criticized for their hard profit
orientation, corruption and the renunciation of human rights standards
and the ban on openly practiced diversity. Left-wing campaigns such as
"Boycott Qatar 2022" have drawn critical attention to this in recent
years.

With the European Men's Championship* starting on Friday, we want to
take a closer look at the role of the European Football Association
UEFA: what is the nature of European football structures and who
benefits from them? What does the European Championship mean as an
economic event? What economic and political framework conditions does
UEFA set? To what extent are these accepted by state actors? And what do
these conditions mean for left-wing fan initiatives and their demands
for a decommercialization and accepted politicization of sport?

After a brief introduction, we will watch the ZDF documentary "UEFA -
Football. Power. Money" (45 min) and then discuss the European Football
Association UEFA and the major European Championship event together.

from the European Championship - the watch-together slogan is "football
without national pride. kick nationalism out of football". the
invitation says: " Football unites people from different backgrounds and
is more than just a game. In times of increasing nationalist and racist
division due to the shift to the right, we want to create a place where
everyone can feel comfortable, celebrate together and watch football.
The Pirata is showing the European Championship, but we are explicitly
against national flags, jerseys, nationalist symbolism and nationalism
that goes beyond that. Our space is anti-racist, anti-fascist and
inclusive.
 
We are very annoyed by the ‘party patriotism’ that is repeatedly brought
out at football tournaments, because ‘national feeling’ is always based
on exclusion and marginalisation - combined with state power, inhumane
institutions such as the European border regime are created. We see no
reason to celebrate this or to give it space. Therefore: leave your
national flags and jerseys at home - then you are welcome to the Pirata
for the European Championships!"
