Die organisierte Nachbarschaft des Viertels Vallcarca in Barcelona präsentiert die Dokumentation „Vallcarca. Sobre runes i esperances“ (Über Trümmer und Hoffnungen). Dieses Werk zeigt den Prozess der massiven Gentrifizierung, den die Anwohner seit Beginn der 2000er Jahre erleiden, und richtet den Blick auf die Reaktionen verschiedener Kollektive, Versammlungen und Nachbarschaftsvereine auf die Zerstörung des Viertels durch die ehemalige städtische Stadtplanungsgesellschaft (Bagursa), unter den Amtszeiten von Joan Clos und Jordi Hereu, beide Bürgermeister der PSC.
Der Film zeigt Praktiken horizontaler und solidarischer Organisation, die im Viertel stattfinden – von der Beteiligung der Nachbarschaft an der Ausarbeitung eines neuen Stadtplans bis hin zur Besetzung von Grundstücken, die vor den massiven Abrissen das historische Zentrum von Vallcarca bildeten, um sie in Gärten und Plätze umzuwandeln.
Die Dokumentation, ein kollektives Werk, wurde in der Selbstverwaltung von verschiedenen Vereinen und Kollektiven des Viertels realisiert und ist kostenlos auf YouTube verfügbar.

The organized neighborhood of Vallcarca, in Barcelona, presents the documentary “Vallcarca. Sobre runes i esperances” (On Ruins and Hopes). This work portrays the process of harsh gentrification that residents have suffered since the early 2000s, focusing on the response of various collectives, assemblies, and neighborhood associations to the destruction of the area by the former municipal urban planning company (Bagursa), under the mandates of Joan Clos and Jordi Hereu, both mayors from the PSC.
The film shows practices of horizontal and solidarity-based organization that take place in the neighborhood, from residents’ participation in drafting a new urban plan to the occupation of vacant lots that once formed Vallcarca’s historic center before the mass demolitions, in order to transform them into gardens and squares.
The documentary, created collectively, was self-managed by various associations and neighborhood groups, and can be viewed for free on YouTube.
