Im November zeigen wir im Rahmen unserer einwöchigen Solidaritätsaktionen mit der Westsahara und dem 50-jährigen Widerstand des sahrauischen Volkes den Film „Sahara Is Not For Sale“.

Der 1978 von Jocelyn Saab gedrehte Film beleuchtet die (geo)politische, militärische und wirtschaftliche Situation während der marokkanischen und mauretanischen Besetzung der Westsahara sowie das Leben, die Organisation, die Taktiken, die Kämpfe und die Ideologie zahlreicher Kader der Frente Polisario. Der Film fängt verschiedene Aspekte des komplexen politischen Gefüges der Frente Polisario jener Zeit ein: von ihren beginnenden antipatriarchalen Kritiken bis hin zum Bewusstsein ihrer Kämpfer für die Schlüsselrolle des Rohstoffabbaus in der Besetzung, einschließlich der Kämpfe gegen die marokkanischen Besatzungsbehörden. Truppen und die Auswirkungen des Guerillakrieges auf benachbarte Städte und Ortschaften.

Wie üblich laden wir Sie im Anschluss an den Film zu einem Gespräch/einer Diskussion ein. Wir freuen uns, dieses Mal eine Vertreterin des Sahraui-Frauenverbandes begrüßen zu dürfen, mit der wir wertvolle Einblicke und Anregungen austauschen können.

For November, as an extension of the week-long activities in solidarity with Western Sahara and the half-century resistance of the Sahrawi people, we will show Sahara Is Not For Sale.

Shot by Jocelyn Saab in 1978, the film takes a deep dive both into the (geo)political, military, and economic situation surrounding the Moroccan and Mauritanian occupation of Western Sahara, as well as the lives, the organization, the tactics, the fighting and the ideology of numerous cadres of the Frente Polisario. The film captures various aspects of the complex political mosaic that was the Frente at the time: from its incipient anti-patriarchal critiques to its militants’ consciousness of the key role mineral extraction played in the occupation, passing through combats waged against Moroccan troops to the impact guerrilla warfare had in neighbouring cities and towns.

As is now our custom, we invite you all to stay for a talk/discussion after the movie. On this occasion, we will have the pleasure of having a guest from the Sahrawi Women’s Association with whom we will be able to share valuable perspectives and input.
