Radical reading group part 2 - Art, activism and compromises

Arrival: U8 Boddinstraße | Bus 166, M43 Herrfurthstraße

"We are Nature Defending Itself": A reading group

This is a public reading group, meeting on a semi-regular, ad-hoc basis.

It is very low key. Recommended reading takes 10 minutes, but each session also starts off with a small summary, so no need to read anything in advance if that's too much!

We will discuss "We are nature defending itself" by Isabelle Fremeaux and Jay Jordan.

It's a collection of stories about the ZAD - an autonomous zone in France.

This is the second session, but don't worry at all if you missed the first. We will aim for 1.5hrs. Afterwards we'll may grab a Späti drink if people will be keen.

During this session we will discuss the following themes (recommended sections in parentheses)

1. Art as an antidote for isolation and a tool to create meaning, community and belonging in protest movements ("No Commoners without Rituals" pages 111-119)

2. Defining victory, compromise and political reality ("Gambles and Barricades of Paper", pages 95-101)
