Radical Reading (and podcast listening) Group

We are an informal, occasional reading group, that meet to discuss texts (or podcasts, in this case) that we find interesting. We try to finish in 1.5hrs. Don't worry if you don't have time to finish the set material - there'll be a summary at the beginning. The group takes place in English.

For the next session (22.01.) please listen to the podcast episode „How Zohran won“:
https://thedigradio.com/podcast/how-zohran-won-w-nyc-dsa/ If you don’t feel listening to a podcast or can’t manage the whole episode, you could also read a bit into the campaign.

Here are some guiding questions, that we can use as Inspiration for our discussion:

- what did you think/learn/find remarkable about the campaign?
- how does it differ/ where is it similar to other ways of organizing political action that you know?
- how was the campaign structured to enable 100,000 people knocking on 3 million doors to activate voters? How did the structure affect the experience of the volunteers?
- whom did the campaign address?
- do you perceive a contradiction between the employment of full time organizers and the formative role of DSA versus the campaigns democratic values? Which role does democracy play in the campaign and DSA?
